- Major environmental concerns that
Mount Ararat is facing today includ water pollution from dumping of chemicals
and detergents; air pollution, particularly in urban area, and deforestation. - A specific environmental concern on the mountain is the pollution. Litter is scattered all over paths to the summit and the most common garbage found is plastic water bottles. Litters around camp sites are extremely noticeable and the strong winds that are common on Ararat spread the litter all over the mountain. - The picture below shows another environmental conern. Air pollution from an Armenian coal power plant is polluting the air. (Igdir, Ararat & Dogubeyazit, 2006) |
